LIVE NATION PRESENTS: SHINEDOWN

LIVE AT BRIDGESTONE ARENA IN NASHVILLE, TN ON 5/10/25

This is the first time seeing Shinedown in 2025 as well as my first review in my new home state of Tennessee. Shinedown are performing at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on their “Dance, Kid, Dance” tour with Beartooth and Morgan Wade as the opening acts.

Attending a Shinedown show is more than a concert but a gathering of newly acquainted friends as we all come to share the experience. I wonder how the band’s performance will differ from the last years show? This time around they are using a much bigger stage set up that now puts vocalist Brent Smith, guitarist Zach Myers, & bassist Eric Bass on extended platforms reaching out much further than your standard stage. Drummer Barry Kerch is still solidly platformed on the main stage.

Before I get to that, lets start at the beginning of the Shinedown show. The show starts with two people fully covered in black holding a mascot know as TV Guy, who is wearing a suit with a television as a head. He starts to slowly move and dance as Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” plays. The scene abruptly changes as both TV guys screen and the stage backdrop start playing tv show snippets from ‘Sanford & Son’, Mork & Mindy’, to ‘Stranger Things’.

From that point Shinedown kicked off the show with “Dance, Kid, Dance”. One thing I must note is that during this tour the band has decided to change up their setlist from show to show so what you hear one night may vary drastically if you are seen them more than once during this tour. To keep the energy strong we next heard “Asking For It”, “Cut The Cord”, “How did You Love”, and “Devil”. The fans as usual were singing along to every word.

A quick note as the reviewer and photographer for this article, their production is getting so big that I was no longer stage front to the point were Brent can still shake hands with those in the photo pit like the tours prior. Unfortunately we were further back behind the crowd so the amount of photos attached to the article are more limited because to the amount of arms blocking the shots. (I still love this band).

At this point the production changes as well as the show’s tone as Brent walks out on the platform in front of the stage to talk about lost loved ones as the band goes into playing “Three Six Five”. Smith works the crowd for several minutes until they play “Enemies” where the pyrotechnics set the stage ablaze.

Only moments later the full band including Kerch have moved to the front platform to all play “Call Me”. “Get Up” was not part of the set but was added at the last moment as a dedication to a fan who was terminal and wanted to hear the song performed. They did a beautifully stripped down version. As the large crystal ball spun atop the band they played “Thick as Thieves”, “Through The Ghost”, & “Fly From The Inside”.

The band moves to the the third stage of their performance as they go full throttle into “Diamond Eyes”. Shinedown have such a variety of songs they they really take you on a rollercoaster of music from bringing you up to back down to Earth. This is proven and the band moves into performing “A Symptom of Being Human”.

I still remember hearing the next song “Planet Zero” played live for the first time during their San Francisco show. Shinedown’s cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simply Man” has become a staple to most of their shows because the way it hits home with this band. Closing out the evening was a grand slam with three of my favorite songs “Monsters”, “Sound of Madness”, and of course “Second Chance”.

This is a must see tour for not only Shinedown fans but fans of great music. This tour is best said with a lyric from “A Symptom of Being Human”.

“And my friends are comin’ too, How about you?”
