After a long battle with throat cancer, Eddie Van Halen has died at the age of 65. Sources state that he passed away today at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica with his wife Janie, son Wolgang, and brother Alex by his side.
Eddie had been battling cancer for over a decade and had been in and out of the hospital over the past year.
Eddie’s son and Van Halen bassist posted this on his instagram page.
Eddie change the rock music industry as an innovator of the tapping technique and guitar tone that had been the staple sound of Van Halen from the band’s beginning.
Still in shock as this is being written and the maestro will be missed. REST IN PEACE EDDIE….
