ICE NINE KILLS “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” Becomes Band’s Biggest Track Hitting 10 Million Streams In First Week

Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group Scream 7 has slashed its way to a franchise-best debut, becoming the #1 movie in the world. Ice Nine Kills original single “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” plays over the film’s closing credits. Since the song was digitally released on 2/19, “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” has amassed almost 10 million streams in it’s first week of release, making it the band’s most successful single launch to date.

As audiences poured into theaters over opening weekend, the official music video, which features cast members Roger L. Jackson as Ghostface, Mckenna Grace, and David Arquette and creator of The Jerky Boys, Johnny Brennan, has now surpassed 5.2 million views at time of writing, extending the cultural footprint of the collaboration well beyond the big screen.

Speaking on the extraordinarily success of both Scream 7 and “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)”, Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas shares

“The horror community, movie maniacs, and our beloved Psychos showed up in force and gave my favorite franchise its biggest opening weekend ever. The filmmakers, cast, Paramount Pictures, and Spyglass put in incredible work.

Kevin Williamson, Marco Beltrami, and, of course, the late Wes Craven are such massive influences on Ice Nine Kills.

When we released ‘Your Number’s Up’ in 2019, we never could’ve imagined that Scream legends — from Skeet Ulrich to Rose McGowan to Jamie Kennedy — would appear at multiple Silver Scream Cons; that an INK Easter egg would land in Scream 6; that we’d launch Horrorwood Reserve with Matthew Lillard; that he’d play himself in ‘The Laugh Track’ after video; that we’d collaborate with Mckenna Grace on ‘Twisting the Knife’ and have it featured in Scream 7; or that David Arquette would appear as himself in the new after video.

R.J. Torbert at Fun World — instrumental in the iconic Ghost Face mask — has been an amazing supporter, and Roger L. Jackson, the voice of Ghost Face himself, lent us his voice!

I saw the first Scream when I was 11. Collaborating with these icons now is something I’ll be eternally grateful for.

This Scream 7 debut is a huge win for horror, for moviegoing, and for original songs in film.

Terrifier 3 beat a big-studio sequel to a billion-dollar comic book movie in 2024 and became the highest-grossing unrated film ever. Being part of that moment — and now the massive rollout of Scream 7 — is a true privilege. We love horror, and the way this community has embraced us — from conventions to some of the genre’s most legendary franchises — means more than we can put into words.”

The video continues the INKverse narrative arc and folds cast members directly into the band’s expanding horror universe, reinforcing the seamless crossover between franchise cinema and Ice Nine Kills’ theatrical world-building.

This marks the second time Ice Nine Kills have partnered with a horror property that has gone on to dominate the box office. In 2024, “A Work of Art” served as the official song for Terrifier 3, which debuted at #1 and became the highest-grossing unrated film of all time. The accompanying music video featured David Howard Thornton as Art The Clown, further cementing the band’s ability to operate at the intersection of cinematic horror and original music storytelling at scale.

With over 2 billion global streams and 505 million YouTube views to date, Ice Nine Kills have spent the last decade building one of the most immersive ecosystems in modern heavy music. Their audience – self-described as “Psychos” – continues to show up across digital platforms, music venues and movie theaters alike.

As Scream 7 continues its theatrical run, “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” stands as the latest example of Ice Nine Kills’ ever-expanding presence as the soundtrack to modern horror’s biggest cultural wins.

Ice Nine Kills spread cavalier carnage with a knowing smile, crafting densely catchy songs that fuse extreme metal, melody, and punk with theatrical precision. Led by Spencer Charnas, the internationally acclaimed band broke through with The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood. Tracks like the gold-certified “A Grave Mistake,” “Hip to be Scared,” “The American Nightmare,” and franchise collaborations including “A Work of Art,” the official song from Terrifier 3, cemented Ice Nine Kills as one of modern metal’s most distinctive and culturally fluent forces.

Beyond the music, the band has built the INKverse into a sprawling ecosystem encompassing high-concept cinematic videos, graphic novels, mock true-crime books, the Psychos Only community, monthly “Nightmare on the 9th” merch drops, and the annual Silver Scream Convention. Handpicked by Metallica for their M72 World Tour and embraced by the horror community that shaped Charnas from childhood, Ice Nine Kills continue to blur the line between music, film, and fandom. “Twisting The Knife (ft. Mckenna Grace)” signals a bloody new chapter: the band stands 20 years on from their debut, with their most ambitious and devilish era yet unfolding.
